semi-circle in the sky
Semicircle in the sky—
seen from the damp confines
of my shelter
bathed in evening light.
Red herring, hardly not.
But by the end I’ll have fought
to encapsulate
some relevant thought.
Orange azaleas crowd
the sidewalk, under cloud,
planted behind a fence
they so beautifully shroud.
Yellow bricks of treasure,
looked for with good measure.
But don’t be surprised
if with it, still, there’s displeasure.
Greenhorn in this grand play:
life is still malleable, like clay.
Against fear and doubt,
let courage outweigh.
Bluegill in flat water swim
craftily underneath, skim
and navigate the depth,
willing to follow their mind’s whim.
Indigo aura quartz,
and all meaningful supports
of romanticizing life,
are irreproachable stalwarts.
Violet night bears down
on a subdued, coastal town.
But for remaining moments,
it'll continue to wear this crown.
